João Baracho began his professional career as a Merchant Marine Officer (Portugal). After this period, he moved to the management area, having been administrator of national companies operating in the technologies area, such as Datacomp, Digidoc and Megamedia.  For 12 years he worked at Portugal Telecom, where he held the position of Sales Director in the Public Administration Area. Currently he is also Director of ACEPI – Associação para a Economia Digital where he coordinated the PME Digital – a program of the Portuguese Ministry of Economy promoted by IAPMEI and ACEPI with the responsibility of promoting the adoption of the Digital Economy by SMEs.

He is the Executive Director of CDI, a multinational NGO for Social Inclusion and Innovation through the use of Technology that implements in Portugal several projects including the Digital Citizenship Centres and the Apps For Good.
